Explanations : If this is the first time you have ever heard the terms; Keeper, turning, alpha, packblood, beta, hunter, or daemon, read the following.

Keeper: A keeper is a human-like (no they aren't human, and they are offended when called humans) being that possesses magical powers to summon beasts and wraiths to protect them. Each pack has a Keeper, some male, some female. There is no rule that Keepers have to be a certain gender, but mostly they are men. Wolves are devoted to protecting the keepers and living up to their standards because many, many years ago a Mage saved a wolf's life and the wolf decided to serve and protect the Mage in gratitude and they have lives this way ever since. The Keepers have power over everything, who the wolves love, who they hate, who they kill, and who they turn to a wolf. There was a time when  the wolves rebelled against the Keepers, but that time is over and many good wolves were killed to pay the price of betrayal.

turning: The turning of a human in to a wolf is a delicate and special procedure that isn't allowed to be done without the Keepers' permission. It the course of history it has happened and the recently turned wolf and the wolf that turned him/her were executed. The turning happens when a wolf bites them self and has the person being turned drink their blood. Then the one who drank the blood goes through an agonizing process of becoming a shape-shifting werewolf.

Packblood: packblood is a term that means blood of a pack member. If a Nightshade needed packblood, they couldn't get it from a Spiritfang; the blood has to be from another Nightshade. Sometimes if packblood is needed desperately a turning may occur so the turned wolf can give the injured wolf packblood.

beta: A beta is a wolf that is partnered to an alpha. a beta grows to be a close friend with  the alpha and they are bound, not only by friendship, but by a special ritual called the Binding.

hunter: hunter does not mean someone who hunts! It means  a wolf that isn't a beta, alpha, pup, mother, elder, or newbie.

daemon: a daemon is a shape shifting creature that bonds to a werewolf. once werewolves reach a  certain age they get to find a daemon that is attracted to him/her.
